Ransara Radio is a partnership between a rural telecenter, the Balangoda Nenasala, and an IT company, Microimage.

Ransara, usinga commercial quality broadcasting studio in the Nenasala, uses broadcasting software- similar to that used by the major commercial channels in Sri Lanka – to broadcast the programme over the internet.

Announcers are drawn from the community and trained in broadcasting techniques and software usage. Time is provided for multiple district telecenters – an hour per week per center – to produce news and programmes from their districts.
